Hamster Brain
round and round and round I go...in the hamster wheel of life

Woo hoo, doing the happy dance. I finished the snowman dishcloth KAL today. I used my white cotton yarn with black spots in it (dalmation I guess you would call it). It is quite nice. I had a bit of a looseness problem between the switch from knit to purl but all in all I am quite happy with the results. Just need to weave in the ends, and I guess I will start to use this cloth in my kitchen. I plan to maybe make a few of these for next Christmas, and give them away as hostess gifts with a mug and beverage as recommended by the designer. Of course I will purchase cream or ecru as originally recommended to use for the gift cloths.

I have now started working on a simple shawl in Garter stitch from http://knittinggeek.com I am using some yarn that I think I actually purchased in Vancouver about 8 years ago. LOL I have so many UFO projects that I can't even remember all of what I had originally planned to do. I don't even see some the the would have been recipients for these projects :-)

Rory is having his first sleepover tonight. His friend Tyler is here and all in all they seem to be getting along okay. Wish they were as tired as I find myself right about now.

Well enough for tonight. I am going cross-eyed typing away here. Bed I think.
Nite.

Uggh! Today was to be the last day of my dishcloth knitalong. Alas, I had to frog the whole thing. Yesterday after work even though I was overly tired, I just had to "stay on top of it and knit a couple of rows". Bad idea! Caught myself making a error, fixed it and completed "just one more row". Then went to bed. This morning, feeling much more refreshed (or so I thought) picked up where I had left off and started another row--but found a couple of stitches too many.

Tried to pull out some stitches, pulled out far more than I needed too, and couldn't figure out what row I had ripped out to sooo.... ripped them all out. I have also found some other knitting cotton (dalmation) and decided to use this instead of the variegated purple. I simply must use up the yarns I have. Three years it has been sitting there. This is simply no longer acceptable. Far too many UFO's in my house!

Rory and I went tubing with friends today instead of sitting home knitting. It was a blast and there is always time for more knitting tomorrow.

C U tomrrow??? Nite.

Today has been rather odd. I woke up in a very good mood--rather looking forward to my day. Rory is at his dad's for the week so Kev and I have the house to ourselves. We were awake early, chatted over coffee. Planned the things we were to try to do today. Then he went out and I started buzzing around looking for where I had stashed the bills before Christmas. Seems like my good mood went right out the door after Kev.

Found a couple of bills but have the oddest feeling there are more somewhere. Started taking off the decorations from the tree. Looks very ugly as I have not finished. There are some real bare spots. Think I will take off all the tinsle and the decorations, but will leave the tree up with just the lights for the next couple of days. Maybe I will take the rest of it down on the weekend since I don't have to work. I stashed everything in the laundry room for Christmas--in a real hurry just so the downstairs would look nice on Christmas morning. Which it did, but I feel so blah about it now because I am now feeling overwhelmed with having to put it all away. I do have to deal with it eventually.

On a brighter note Kev and I went and picked up a few groceries together this afternoon. I have a chicken busy roasting in the oven for tonight. I also have done the 7 rows of day 2 of my monthly dishcloth knitalong. I am using variegated purple yarn that I already have on hand instead of going out and buying solid ecru or cream. Oh well, the point of this is to just do it instead of always talking about it. :-)

Going to check my email and grab a coffee. C U soon.

Well it has been a while! :-)

We have all been leading very busy lives since I last wrote. We changed most of the windows in our house. Re-insulated the outside of the building, enjoyed our summer. Rory is doing well in grade 2 (yay for hime!)

I have started sewing and knitting again. I joined a few yahoo groups for knit-alongs, as well as a group for knitting baby items for preemies.

I have been busy, but still want to join the knitting webring. So I will attempt to post at least once a week. At some point I will find a way to put all my ongoing projects online here. Still no pics, no working scanner and no digital camera. But who knows what the new year will bring.

Have to buy some cream coloured cotton yarn to be ready for Sunday when I will begin my first dishcloth monthly knit along.

I am currently washing the fabric for some receiving blankets to sew for PAK Canada. I also need to sew up the seams for two pair of baby booties and a hat.

I need to complete the sewing for a burp cloth for my sister-in-law who should be delivering in the next three weeks. :-)

I also need to sew up some pillow cases for my son's bed. Two from solid red sheets, and two black ones (one has lizards and the other insects).

Searching out my box of knitting needles so that I can begin my first pair of socks. I also joined a knit-along group for sock knitters.

Busy, busy, busy. Just lovin' it!
Happy New Year 2006 everyone! May it be a happy, healthy and prosperous one!

Had the hamster out in her ball again. She spent a good half hour running around. She seemed quite proficient, especially in the beginning of her exercise time at avoiding bumping into things.

Now that she is back in her cage and running in her stationary weheel, she seems to want to chew on the spokes of her wheel. This is not something I am impressed with for two reasons. One, all the bits of plastic that will likely end up in her tummy, and two, because I don't want to have to keep replacing her wheel.

I have put a chew stick in her cage but she remains disinterested in it. Oh well, off to bed now. Tomorrow I have to bake cookies or something for the bake sale table at the Family Fair on Saturday.
